Have you ever had this moment — 60+ browser tabs open, knowing half of them you’ll never look at again, but you just can’t bring yourself to close them?

Because you’re afraid once closed, they’re gone forever.

This TabZen update is here to solve that fear.

The Big Change: AI Auto-Categorization

TabZen used to read your tabs, generate AI summaries, and save them to your cloud archive. Now, during archiving, AI automatically assigns topic tags to each tab:

The key: AI reads page content, not just the URL. The same github.com — a README gets categorized as Read Later, a code repository as Dev. This is something URL-only tools can’t do.

Wrong categorization? Fix it manually in the detail view anytime.

How to Use It

Tidy Tabs

Go to the Sort & Tidy panel. The top half is Sort (arrange/group tabs by domain), the bottom half is Tidy. The Tidy area lists all unarchived tabs in your browser. You can:

After selecting, click Tidy. AI reads, summarizes, categorizes, and archives each one.

Filter by Topic

In the Tabs section, there are two sub-tabs at the top:

Click any topic tag to instantly see only that category.

Chat to Recall

Ask in Chat:

What did I save about React performance?

AI searches your archive, returns only relevant tabs with summaries. If you mention a category (like “my Dev tabs”), AI automatically filters by topic.

Safety Guarantees

You might worry: will Tidy close my music? Will it read my banking page?

No. The following tabs are never read or closed:

Closing is optional — by default, Tidy only archives without closing. Only when you check “Close tabs after saving” does it close tabs, and only after successful archiving.

Custom Tags

Manage your topic tags in Settings:

One-Click Restore

When you select a topic in the Archived view, an “Open All” button appears — open all archived pages under that tag in your browser at once.

No more clicking into detail pages one by one.

Welcome Page

When you first install TabZen, a welcome page opens automatically, introducing core features and safety guarantees. So before you archive your first tab, you know: your tabs are safe.

TabZen’s core philosophy is simple: let you close tabs without fear.

Tabs aren’t a burden your brain can’t handle — they’re assets AI organizes for you, always findable. Close them, not because you don’t need them, but because you know you can always get them back.
