In spring 2024, 3M spun off its legacy Health Care business as an independent company, Solventum. At the time, the company comprised four operating divisions. The smallest division, Purification and Filtration, has since been sold. Today, MedSurg is the largest business, contributing approximately 64% of combined revenue and encompassing advanced wound care and wound prevention. The Dental Solutions division (restorative composites and orthodontics) and the Health Information Systems division (primarily revenue cycle management) each account for 18% of total revenue.
