SanDisk is one of the world's top five NAND flash semiconductor suppliers. SanDisk is vertically integrated, with nearly all of its flash chips produced through its joint venture framework with Kioxia at production facilities across Japan. SanDisk then re-encapsulates most of these chips into solid-state drives (SSDs) for consumer electronics, external storage, or cloud storage. SanDisk was part of Western Digital (acquired in 2016) for nine years before being spun off as an independent company in 2025.
