The Optical Communications segment is divided into two primary product groups: Carrier Networks and Enterprise Networks. The Carrier Networks group primarily consists of products and solutions based on optical communication infrastructure for services such as video, data, and voice communications. The Enterprise Networks group primarily consists of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments, and individuals. The Environmental Technologies segment produces ceramic substrates and filter products for emission control in mobile and stationary applications. The Specialty Materials segment engages in manufacturing products that provide material formulations for glass, glass-ceramics, and crystals, as well as precision metrology instruments and software. The Life Sciences segment develops, manufactures, and supplies laboratory products.
